Superficially, jerseys are something near and dear to me and a good stand in for an object-as-self-portrait.  So that explains the choice of subject matter.

In a desire to keep things simple, going black and white really reduces my choices and take away my favourite tool – colour.

I find myself fighting mostly between what my brain sees and desires and what my hand can produce. After a good ten years away from any consistent practice, my skills have atrophied. My chops will come back, no worries there, I just need to be patient with myself.

Surprisingly it took very little effort for me to get back into a daily practice.

It has definitely been a year to put behind me.  There was a lot of pain and a lot of good to come from it though and choosing to carry forward the best of it is a pretty simple thing to do.

In simplest terms it has been a year of forgiveness and a year to let go of things that are just no longer necessary to hold on to.

That’s really all there is to say about that.
